Aholi Kachina (Circa 1960)

This one is the Aholi Kachina, according to Hopi Kachina Dolls by Harold Colton. You don't see many of these dolls and I have never had one before. This guy is huge. He stands 15 1/2 inches tall to the top of his head and if it had a feather it would be about 17 inches. I would date him to the 60s for sure. The patina, overall appearance and so on point to this. He has yarn around his ears, which was common in the 70s, but you also see that in some dolls from the 50s. His cape is made of canvas and is painted with various Hopi design elements appropriate for this being. He carries a planting stick in his right hand and what appears to be a rasp in his left. He is in nearly excellent condition.
